There are a lot of foods that exist that will burn fat while you’re eating.  The process of eating and digesting many of these fat burning foods actually burns more calories than the foods themselves.  Don’t be fooled though, a healthy diet on its own does not burn a lot of fat.  Exercise is also the other requisite to sustained weight loss.  A healthy diet will assist in weight control once you have lost the weight that you require.

A diet in itself isn’t an autmomatic recipe for starvation either.  Instead of the standard three large meals a day, a great way to diet is by having 5 healthy, smaller meals during the day.  Or you could have your 3 smaller meals while snacking on some of the foods listed below to help stave off hunger.  Another way to keeping your stomach fuller more often is to drink lots of water, which also helps hydrate your body over the course of a day.

A diet including low fat diary products has been shown to be more beneficial compared to a diet with no dairy.  Dairy products are beneficial because the assist the body to break down fat cells which in turn helps weight loss.  These dairy products can include things such as milk, yogurt and some cheeses.  With this in mind, a cheese platter is not completely off the menu when it comes to weight loss.

A great fat burning source of food is citrus fruits. Most citrus fruits contain high levels of Vitamin C which provide more than weight loss benefits.  Citrus can help heighten your metabolism, as well as increasing your overall potential to burn fat quicker than without some form of citrus.  A hot lemon tea or cold lemon juice is used as a day starting drink for many diets.

While on the subject of fruit, almost any other type of fruit is good for fat burning.  Berries can be added to this food group.  These fruits contain a chemical which limits the fat that can be absorbed by the cells in your body and also allow the cells to release fat deposits through water absorption.

The diet you choose doesn’t have to exclude meat, although buying a fatty piece of steak isn’t going to help your cause.  If lean meat isn’t readily available, make sure fats are cut off any meats that you are going to cook.  Fish, such as tuna and salmon are great fat burning foods as they contain protein and omega 3 acids.

What’s the best way to cook these types of meats and fish?  Using olive oil instead of vegetable oils.  Olive oil assists in keeping cholesterol levels down as well as helping to burn fat.  Olive oil is available everywhere now and should be your cooking oil of choice, but can also  be used as a dressing in salads or as a dip with breads.

While these is not a definitive list of fat burning foods, they will hopefully give you good starting guide as to what can help with your weight loss or weight management.
